This tape media is capable of storing 36 GB of native data and 72 GB of compressed data. These tape cartridges are verified and qualified by the Hewlett-Packard DAT72 licensing program which ensures rigid media performance with DAT72 drives. The tape media has a Metal Particle (MP) coating. Unlike common MP tapes, the tape features a dual-layer, ultra thing magnetic coating which increases output and reduces noise even in the high frequency range essential for high-density data recording.
